https://animoto.com/play/XUfxeEriBQAcDszXijFi1QA group of interested local people joined the 9 Trustees in celebrating the first year since the registration of The Watercress Way Charity (no 1167675) at Worthy Down Halt on The Watercress Way.Despite the unseasonable showery weather, we inspected the wide variety of flora that now flourishes at the cleared site of the halt. Many thanks to the Worthys Conservation Volunteers who have worked hard over many years to clear and tidy the area. Some interesting species are now established. For example, wild liquorice and St John’s Wort.We discussed progress over the year and highlighted the well-attended Dawn to Dusk Day in April and the signing of the first sections of the route from Itchen Abbas to Sutton Scotney.Plans for the future include developing a full Strategic Plan to detail our aims and to enhance our applications for grants, to complete waymarking the rest of the route and to encourage use of the route by all. There was widespread appreciation of our work from local walkers. In particular, The Railway Ramblers are very keen to support our activities in promoting the history of the railway lines and improving access.Read full details in The Annual Report 2016-17
