Bird Song Trail now available on The Watercress Way

We are delighted to announce the installation of 15 roundels along the Watercress Way linking to the song of a bird common in that habitat.

Our annual Dawn Chorus Walk and regular Bird Walks along the River Arle are very popular. Many attendees are now good at recognising bird song. We often hear and see up to 30 birds on these walks. We have chosen the 15 most common birds that you are likely to hear as you walk the route.

Simply scan the QR codes on benches and posts and you will be directed to our website where you will hear the song of a bird frequently heard in that location.

We are grateful that the money for these roundels comes from the Newitt Legacy via the Alresford Rotary. We have also erected 4 new benches along the way with more planned. You will see plaques on the benches acknowledging this donation.

This bench was installed by The Watercress Way charity using a generous

donation from Alresford Rotary and the Newitt legacy.

Mike and Bridget Newitt had a strong interest in the natural world.

We hope you enjoy listening to local birdsong using the QR code.

Please enjoy resting a while on the benches and listen to evocative bird song.
